This version of IPC is based on information from the Family Budget Survey (POF) that IBRE/FGV conducted in 200/2003 related to the expenditures of families whose members are mostly over 60 years of age. This IPC version makes it possible to observe how changes in the cost of living affect a growing portion of the Brazilian population.
Besides measuring the cost of living for Brazilians over 60, IPC-3i is used as a reference for public policies on health and pensions.
