PhD in Economics at the University of Chicago. Researcher at IBRE/FGV and Executive Secretary at the Brazilian Econometric Society. Author of several articles published in national and international academic magazines on education, economic development and public policies. His research was awarded the prize "III Prêmio Banco do Brasil" - University of Brasilia (Department of Economics), Adriano Romariz Duarte Prize (2004 and 2006) and Mario Henrique Simonsen Prize 2007/2008. He was co-editor of the books “It is possible: public security management and violence reduction” (from Portuguese “É possível: gestão da segurança pública e redução da violência”) and “Basic education in Brazil: building the country of the future” (from Portuguese “Educação básica no Brasil: construindo o país do futuro”). He is a quarterly columnist at Folha de S. Paulo newspaper. His areas of expertise are Economic Growth and Economics of Education.
